Polar Expressions by Sandra Meech represents art and textile inspiration based on the Canadian Arctic, Iceland and Antarctica.

With an early fascination for the art and sculpture of the Inuit people in her native Canada, Sandra later researched Caribou Skin clothing traditions and visited two northern communities. The energy in the painted backgrounds with ‘mark-making’ stitch in her early work was then later mixed with photography and collage to produce work inspired by visits to Iceland and Antarctica. Glaciers, icebergs and polar landscapes are being challenged by climate change in these remote regions and this growing concern is reflected this collection of work.
