Our own Wendy Gardiner, who is also a prolific author, teacher and occasional TV presenter has two new books out – Take Two Fat Quarters – Home and Take Two Fat Quarters – Gifts.
Published by Search Press, each contains 16 easy to make gorgeous sewing projects for using up your fat quarter stash.
Wendy explained “Fat quarters are wonderful as they make it possible to buy fabulous fabrics in affordable pieces but often we are left with a dilemma of what to do with them. After the great success of Fun with Fat Quarters, Search Press asked me for two more books. I jumped at the chance as I do love these versatile fabric pieces – and I have loads of them!”
The books also contain a comprehensive chapter with lots of techniques, and just like all the projects, these are clearly illustrated with beautiful photography and easy to follow step-by-step instructions.
Both books also include a full-size pattern sheet for those projects that require pattern pieces, making them easy and quick to make.
Wendy told us “My favourite projects in Gifts are the two-tone teddy and toddler’s shorts whilst in Homes it is a toss-up between the reversible placemats, basket liner and flower power cushion. I loved playing with my sewing machine’s various decorative stitches to make the placemats and providing a project that dabbles with free motion in the flower power cushion bought the teacher out in me (be warned, once you try, you will get addicted to free motion!) and being a haby hoarder, having a pretty lined basket with pockets was a must!”
