Reclaimed Landscapes, Stitch, Paper & Cloth with Cas Holmes

Using a mixture of paper and cloth, textile artist and author, Cas Holmes will teach how to create improvised landscape inspired samples using variations of hand stitch. Processes are based on Cas’s latest book ‘Textile Landscapes’ which explores the meeting points between painting and textiles.
Orange Peel Quilts with Invisible Machine Applique Dawn Cameron-Dick

Has the thought of all that curved piecing putting you off making an Orange Peel quilt? Dawn will show you a way to make it is using a technique she developed in 1984…Invisible Machine Applique (IMA)! Use your machine to create a “turned edge” applique, using NO bonding products. you will produce a soft appliqué that is hard to distinguish from hand applique. She will advise you on setting up your machine, creating the stitch, and teach you a clever way to turn under your seam allowances. You will also see how to use IMA to mitre borders, sew bias binding and avoid the need for curved piecing! Suitable for all abilities.
Sew an African Wax Print Skirt
with Adaku Parker

Join Adaku, author of ‘Sewing with African Wax Print Fabric’ for this 2-hour twilight class and learn to sew an A-line skirt with an elasticated waistband and in-seam pockets. During the workshop you will cut out your skirt pieces, finish raw edges of the side seams and attach in-seam pockets, stitch the seams make the waistband, insert elastic and hem. However, if not finished, clear instructions will be provided to take home on how to finish any final steps not completed in the workshop. Suitable for intermediate level – those with some basic knowledge of dressmaking and using a sewing machine. Adaku is also teaching another twilight class – Ankara Patchwork – on Saturday 31st July.
