Whether you are coming as a family or school party The Festival of Quilts offers a great range of opportunities for young people to get involved in quilting.

The Quilt Competition: We have categories for both individual children and groups or school parties to take part in The Festival of Quilts competition. This year the theme for these categories is ‘Memories’ and entrants are encouraged to interpret this either literally or abstractly.

Children’s Workshops: We have a selection of children only workshops including ‘Make a Monster’, ‘Fabric Cactus’, ‘Make a Decorated A5 Sketchbook Notebook Cover’, ‘Christmas Stocking’ and ‘Sew a Small Decorated Basket’. You can view all the children workshops on available here. Children aged 8 or above can attend workshops without their parent accompanying them.

All children attending a workshop will get a goody bag filled will exciting gifts from Vlieseline, Brother and Lewis and Irene who all kindly support Young Quilters.

Become a member of the Young Quilters: Young Quilters is all about learning sewing skills, having fun and making friends! Anyone aged 5 to 18 years old can join us.

All children attending a workshop automatically receive a year’s free membership with Young Quilters at the Quilters’ Guild!  Membership includes a welcome gift including sewing activities and fabric, two issues of the YQ newsletter in the Spring and Autumn, the chance to enter challenges and win exciting prizes, the opportunity to attend workshop and access to a special Youngish Quilters blog for young people aged 14-18. The Textile Galleries: Inspire your children or students with incredible quilting talent in any of the 21 world-class galleries at the show.

Don’t forget to visit [email protected] celebrating The Quilters’ Guild 40th Anniversary. The Guild issued a challenge to its 17 regions (and Young Quilters) in order to acquire new work by contemporary quilt artists who do not already have a piece in the Guild’s collection.

Children Tickets:
We offer a few options for child tickets. Child tickets can be purchased separately, or you can take advantage of our group child tickets (for parties of 10 or more) and make a saving. Additionally every child who enters The Festival of Quilts competition will be sent a free ticket to the show. Children under five benefit from free entry into the show.
