YQ square - main (1)

You will need

  • Scraps of assorted green and red fabrics
  • Toy stuffing
  • Ribbon
  • Embroidery thread and needle

If you want to hand sew you can use felt and stitch pips with French knots in green embroidery thread.

Download a Strawberry bunting template.

Step 1

Cut your fabric using the templates provided. Fold the strawberry shapes in half, right side to right side and sew down the open edge side (1/4” seam allowance) and cutting across the bottom.

Step 2

Turn through and using a double thread and big knot at the end, do a running stitch around the top, turning under a small hem as you go.

Step 3

Stuff the strawberry firmly and pull up the stitches to gather in and stitch closed firmly.

Step 4

Now make your yoyo (Suffolk puff) by again with a big knot and double thread do a running stitch around the circle ,turning under a small hem as you go.

Step 5

Pull up the threads and twiddle until you get the gathers sitting centrally before stitching down to hold them in place.

Step 6

Now stitch to the top of the strawberry with a couple of stitches hidden in the folds and create a loop to attach to the bunting either from the thread or add one from ribbon.

Step 7

Well done your bunting is complete! Time to find somewhere to hang it.
