Join Wendy, teacher, author and occasional TV presenter to learn this simple patchwork technique. It looks impressive but is deceptively easy to achieve so is a great project for those new to patchwork as you use simple squares, joined together with minimal patch matching required.
Wendy will take you step-by-step through making a nine-patch block, and then demonstrate how to cut and turn it into the impressive Disappearing Nine Patch. Once you’ve mastered this technique, you can turn your block into a cushion, a bag or you can join several to create a quilt. It’s a fun class and you’ll receive lots of handy patchwork and quilting tips along the way.
What you will learn:
Make a Disappearing nine-patch which looks amazing but is really quite simple to do. You will learn:
- Tips on cutting fabric accurately with a rotary cutter, mat and ruler
- A quick way to piece fabrics and a nifty trick to match seams effortlessly
- How to turn a simple nine square block into a ‘wow-factor’ disappearing nine-patch block
- How to add borders to finish the panel
Once you’ve mastered the technique, you will be reaching for fabric scraps to make more. Turn them into cushion covers or bags, add different blocks and make a quilt. This is a great stepping stone to trying more patchwork variations and really getting to grips with patchwork!
