With Christmas just around the corner why not turn your thoughts to some seasonal makes. This pretty little poinsettia candle mat could be the ideal gift. Join me for a short workshop where we will cover layered raw edge appliqué using a Teflon sheet to aid the process, a quick and easy way to free machine the design on, add some decorative metallic finishes and finish with a neat little beaded edge. Lots of fun and lots of tips along the way.

You will learn:

1) Layered raw edge appliqué
2) Easy machine appliqué techniques
3) Metallic foil finishes
4) Beaded edge stitch

You will need:

  • Pattern – available to download from www.patarchibald.com for a nominal charge of £1.
  • One 9” square of cream fabric
  • One 6 ½” square of green fabric
  • One 4” square of dark red fabric
  • One 4” square of light red fabric
  • One 9” square of Bondaweb or other similar fusible web with a paper backing
  • Small amount of seed beads
  • Toning machine threads
  • Sewing machine fitted with a new needle and neutral bobbin thread
  • Usual sewing kit – scissors, pins, hand-sewing needle that will fit through your beads, pencil, notepad
  • Iron, ironing pad,
  • Baking parchment or Teflon Sheet or Fusamat
  • Optional – One pack of glue granules and metallic foils and pressure sensitive glue – all available from www.patarchibald.com

    Please download the pattern from the shop on www.patarchibald.com (for a nominal charge of £1) and trace the elements on it onto the paper side of your fusible web.
