Whether you are coming as a family or school party The Festival of Quilts offers a great range of opportunities for young people to get involved in quilting.
The Quilt Competition: We have categories for both individual children and groups or school parties to take part in The Festival of Quilts competition. This year the theme for these categories is ‘Free’ and entrant are encouraged to interpret this either literally or abstractly.
You can find full details on this year’s Young Quilter’s competition here.
Children’s Workshops: We have a selection of children only workshops including learning how to make a quilted pencil case, an appliqued and quilted place mat, a mini kimono wall hanging and a spotty dotty cushion. You can view all the children workshops on available here.
Freebies: Every child who takes part in one of the childrens’ workshop will receive a goodie bag full of treats as well as receiving a free Young Quilters membership.
The Textile Galleries: Inspire your children or students with incredible quilting talent in any of the 30 professionally curated galleries at the show.
The Campaign for Creativity: This year we launched a campaign for creative subjects to be more prominent in education. The petition began at our sister show The Spring Knitting & Stitching Show and the visual petition of stitched signatures will be on display at The Festival of Quilts. Children will have the opportunity to add to their petition on the day by stitching their own signature for it. You can sign the online petition on change.org here.
We offer a few options for child tickets. Child tickets can be purchased separately, or you can take advantage of our family ticket offer or group child tickets (for parties of 10 or more) and make a saving. Additionally every child who enters The Festival of Quilts competition will be sent a free ticket to the show.
