The Quilt Academy offers a series of masterclasses, workshops and lectures aimed at improvers and those wanting intensive learning.  Expert tutors teach everything from printing and dyeing techniques through to textile manipulation, thread sketching, English Paper Piecing and free motion quilting.

Lectures

There are nearly 30 lectures on offer over the 4 days of the show, presented by some of the best known names in the quilt world including Kaffe Fassett, Pauline Burbridge and Luana Rubin.

Lectures provide a great opportunity to gain insight into the world of leading artists; escape from the busy show floor and rest your feet for 45 minutes while you hear from inspirational talent!

Academy Workshops

The Festival of Quilts offers a range of workshops from free motion quilting to designing with transfer paints.

Classes range in duration from 90 minutes to 3 hours (including Twilight sessions at the end of the day), plus 1 and 2 day masterclasses.

The majority of Academy classes take place in private, air conditioned rooms situated on the Atrium of the NEC (alongside the show entrance and up on the Gallery). Those requiring running water take place either in the Virtual Studio or another specially built classroom on the show floor.

There may be additional costs for materials or a list of items to bring (see workshop timetable for details).
